Hiroshima Atom Bomb

Hiroshima, Japan
Class IV - Distress Condition, Nuclear Attack

A-Bomb Dome

At 8:15 am on August 6, 1945, General Tibbots dropped "the bomb".
The devise exploded approximately 580 meters above ground, not far from the T-shaped bridges that were its target. Dr. Oppenheimer, a key scientist that helped invent the bomb, told General Tibbots that there would be a large bright blast and to cover his eyes.

The destruction was incredible. The bomb flattened virtually every structure in a two-mile radius and in an instant the city center was literally vaporized. The ensuing fireball spread and engulfed miles more
of the City in fire. The Japanese began rebuilding two days later.

Today, Hiroshima is a fully rebuilt city and hosts the Peace Memorial Museum.
